അവര്‍ എത്ര ഭേദം




ആ കൊതുക് ഓടയില്‍

ചത്തു കുടക്കുകയാണ്‌.

ഒരു പട്ടിയും ആ വഴിക്ക് പോകുന്നില്ല.

എല്ലാ അവന്‍‌മാരും മാര്‍ജിന്‍ ഫ്രീ ഷോപ്പുകളില്‍മീനിനും

ഇറച്ചിക്കും വില ചോദിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്

തിടുക്കം കൂട്ടുകയാണ്‌.

കൊതുകിന്‌ വേണ്ടി

ഒരു പട്ടിയും വിലപിച്ചില്ല.

പട്ടികള്‍ പതിവുപോലെ രാത്രികളില്‍

കടിച്ചും കുരച്ചും ഇണചേര്‍ന്നു.

എന്നിട്ടും ഒരു പട്ടിക്കും മതിവന്നില്ല.

എല്ലാ പെണ്‍ പട്ടികളും ആട്ടിയോടിച്ചിട്ടും

ചില മാന്യ്‌ന്മാരയ ആണ്‍ പട്ടികള്‍

മണത്തു പിന്നാലെ കൂടി.

ഒരു പ്രയോജനവും കിട്ടാതെ

വന്നതോടെ

അവന്‍‌മാര്‍ മാന്യത കൈവിട്ടു.

അറിയാവുന്ന തെറിയല്ലാം ഒറ്റ രാത്രിയില്‍ തന്നെ വിളിച്ചു.
ചുരം കുത്തി, മണ്ണ് മാന്തി

മനുഷ്യ ചെറ്റകളെയെല്ലാം

ഇങ്ങനെ ആക്ഷേപിക്കാന്‍മറ്റാര്‍ക്ക് കഴിയും.

വിലക്കയറ്റത്തിനും പൂഴ്ത്തിവയ്പിനും

എതിരായി ഒരു നഗ്‌ന താണ്ഡവം തന്നെ അവ നടത്തി

എന്നാല്‍നേരം പുലര്‍ന്നതോടെ പട്ടികളെല്ലാം

എങ്ങോ ഓടിപ്പോയി.

പട്ടികളുടെ

രാഷ്ട്രീയം ഒരിടത്തുംതോറ്റിട്ടില്ല .

മനുഷ്യനേക്കാള്‍ എത്ര നല്ലവരാണ്‌ അവര്‍.

William Carlos Williams, "Selected poems," New Directions Publishing Corp., 1985. Williams was a doctor who practiced full-time while writing some of America's finest poetry. Many of his poems such as "Iris" are famous for their beauty and power.
